UPSC invites application on prescribed forms by 28/04/2011 (05/05/2011 for the candidates from far flung areas) for various posts in various Government of India Ministries and Departments in the prescribed format. The posts are :
1. Principal : 01 post in NDA, Ministry of Defence
2. Superintendent (Legal) : 03 posts in D/o Legal Affairs, M/o Law and Justice
3. Deputy Director (Chemical) : 02 posts in M/o Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises
4. Vice Principal : 01 post in NDA, M/o Defence
5. Plant Protection Officer (Plant Pathology) : 14 posts, M/o Agriculture
6. Service Engineer (Mechanical) : 01 post, FSI, M/o Agriculture
Fee payable is Rs.50/- in the shape of Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. (fee exempted for SC/ ST/ PH/ Women candidates)
Company Profile :
* The first Commission at the provincial level was the Madras Service Commission established in 1930 under a 1929 Act of the Madras legislature. The Government of India Act, 1935 provided for the establishment of a Public Service Commission for each Province. Accordingly, under the 1935 Act seven Public Service Commissions were established in 1937; for the Provinces of Assam (at Shillong), Bengal (at Calcutta), Bombay and Sindh (at Bombay) Central Provinces, Bihar and Orissa (at Ranchi), Madras (at Madras), Punjab and North-West (at Lahore) and United Province (at Allahabad). All the 28 State Public Service Commissions including the successors of the older Provincial Public Service Commissions, participate in the National Conference. The list of 28 PSCs is at Annexure.
* Articles 315 to 321 of the Constitution of India govern the establishment and composition of the Commission as well as their consultative functions.
* Article 315 of the Constitution provides for separate Public Service Commission for the Union and States without any formal linkage between the two. In order to provide a forum for exchange of ideas and information in common areas of interest, Conference of Chairpersons of State Public Service Commissions are being held from time to time in association with UPSC. Chairman, UPSC is the ex-officio Chairman of the National Conference of Chairpersons of State PSCs..
